“We shall walk together on this path of life, for all things are part of the universe and are connected with each other to form one whole unity.”

Our Classrooms

Elementary I

Children in Elementary I build strong foundations & deep understanding in Mathematics, Language Arts, Cultural Studies, Sciences, & Arts.  The Montessori concept of the Cosmic Curriculum, a holistic and interconnected approach to academics & learning, is the foundation of the elementary years.  Elementary I children learn through story, collaboration, independent study, & exploration.  Elementary I children learn to work together to build a cooperative classroom community, solve problems both big and small, & begin to turn their attention to the outside world.

ELementary II

Children in Elementary II continue the work they began in Elementary I.  They focus on diving deeper into the subject matter & work to develop in-depth projects both independently & collaboratively.  Elementary II children work towards accountability & self-discipline by practicing time management, backwards planning, & responsibility.  They begin taking a deeper look at the needs & responsibilities of bothering their school & the wider community through study & service.  Strengths & skills are fostered in an effort to create curious & conscientious world citizens.

Atelier

The atelier is our art studio where children work each week on a variety of creative projects.  Elementary children are naturally creative & imaginative; the atelier provides a space for self-expression & artistic pursuits.  In the atelier we focus on art as a form of communication.  Through the study of art history, contemporary artists, various media & art forms children look to find ways to communicate their thoughts & feelings.  Special attention is paid towards expanding the children’s ideas of art & its purpose in our communities.
